Pancreatitis & Fat Free Honey!

honey and pancreatitisHoney is fat free.

Yep! That's right.

Zero grams of fat.

0 grams of fat.

0% fat.

Honey has NO fat!

I just like saying that! As someone with pancreatitis this is very good news!

pancreatitis and fat free honeyThis is good for us with pancreatitis who are trying to find a sweetener.

I haven't used sugar or fake sweeteners for years. If I sweeten something it is with sugar.

One time when I was have a hard time with my pancreas and not really able to eat I had a spoonful of honey and felt a nice feeling in my stomach as if it might even be helpful with healing.

Helpful with healing and 0% fat. Oh yeah. I like honey!

  1. This might not be a good idea if your pancreatitis caused your diabetes. I try controlling my diabetes and pancreatitis by not eating much, but when ever I do get an attack my blood sugar soars through the roof, so just be careful not eating to much honey if your now a diabetic.

  2. Hi Anonymous,

Thank you for sharing your experience in this area. I do not have diabetes. My acute, then chronic pancreatitis was caused by drinking alcohol as is most often the case, from the statistics I've read and heard. When I couldn't eat and decided to try a spoonful of honey there was a wonderful ease that seems to be felt in my abdomen. I don't know how else to describe it. That being said, I think each case is different, as each person and body will react differently depending on all the variables in involved. Thank you for your input. I read your other comments as well and appreciate that you are sharing your insights. I hope you starting feeling better soon and that your current attack does not last too long. Please do feel free to share what foods and broths you are bringing back into your diet initially.

    All the best!

    Christine
